Committees / Teams

We all are blessed with gifts and talents. Where will you use yours?

Mission - Works to develop programs that meet needs and alleviate suffering, particularly among the last, the lost and the least. Their mission statement: "To proclaim the Gospel in thought, word & deed; to think beyond ourselves to our local community, our nation & our world.  To learn about Presbyterian mission projects as well as other mission opportunities; to be aware of crises as well as on-going needs, and to be organized to respond to those needs as they arise."

Christian Education - Providing opportunities and creating an enviroment to empower children, youth and adults to discover and live out what it means to be a Christian in this time and place.  This would include: Sunday School, Youth Group, Kids Club, Vacation Bible School and Bible Study.

Worship - Actively works to enhance the worship experience for all members of the congregation. It provides and promotes programs to carry "the message" out the doors and into the secular world.

Fellowship & Events - This committee is a resource for other committees and members, providing assistance in developing opportunities for fellowship through events.  Regular events are Spaghetti Dinners, various luncheons, Men's Breakfasts, Easter Sunrise Service, Fall Harvest Party, Yoga, Bowling League and Book Club.  Also, Northminster opens their doors to the following groups for their meetings & events: Alcoholics Anonymous, American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts, High School Forensics, Lawrence County Election Board, Lawrence County Trivia, New Castle Music Club, Samaritan Counseling, Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO), Renova Music Fest and Weight Watchers.

Corporate Affairs - Although the church is about ministry, there is a business element to what we do. There are funds to raise, bills to pay, stewardship of the church's assets. To that end, there are two primary roles;  first, handling the church's finances and second, maintaining the building and grounds.

Media Marketing & Communications - There are great people at Northminster and great things are  happening here so it is vital to our church family and the community to "get the word out".  Getting the word out is exactly the mission of this committee.  We have two audiences to communicate to. There is the existing church family that needs communicated to in order to stay up to date on all the church happenings.  And secondly, there is the community outside the church family who we are reaching out to in ministry and inviting in to join our church family. Doing this right brings a closeness and sense of belonging to our members and it grows our family by attracting new friends who are seeking what Northminster has to offer.  We are focused on using the newest technologies and social networking to accomplish our mission, so you can expect to see us on websites, facebook, twitter, blogs and whatever new communication methods that may surface. This committee is a sub committee of The Corporate Affairs Committee.
