ELDERS

Gifts and Requirements:

The Elders, of which there are twelve, are the governing body of the church.  They are responsible for the life of the church.  Elders should be persons of faith, dedication and good judgment.  Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel, both within the church and in the world.

·       Strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation

·       Faithful attendance at worship

·       Encourage people in worship and service of God

·       Participate in the service of Communion

·       Support all programs of the church

·       Attend Session meetings each month

·       Actively participate in assigned Session committee

Installation of Elders:

Elders are nominated by a nominating committee and then elected to the Session by the church congregation.

DEACONS

Gifts and Requirements:

The Deacons, of which there are twelve, are responsible for the care of the Congregation and to minister Service & Good Will in the community.  The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ.  Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, of exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies, and sound judgment should be chosen for this office.

·       Minister to those in need, to the sick, the friendless and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith

·       Faithful attendance at worship

·       Support all programs of the church

·       Attend Deacon meetings each month

·       Actively participate in assigned Session committee

 

Deacons are additionally responsible for:

o       Arranging transportation to worship services for those in need

o       Arranging care packages for students in college

o       Supplying spiritual literature for the congregation and members unable to attend worship

o       Visiting and comforting those unable to attend worship

o       Implementing and/or assisting other programs which cater to the needs of individuals


Installation of Deacons:

Deacons are nominated by a nominating committee and then elected to the office of Deacon by the church congregation.
